Michelle Nachtrieb’s handmade jewelry conjures romance and a renaissance of spirit. Her love for creating beautiful objects and wearable art began in her childhood surrounded by artists, writers and poets who frequented her mother’s art gallery. They were early role models directing her to a creative life.
After college, Michelle worked for goldsmith artist Suzan Rezac at Rezac Gallery in Chicago and traveled to Munich to meet with influential jewelry artists such as Otto Künzli, Theresa Hilbert, and Daniel Kruger. Inspired by these encounters, she soon began selling her work at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and a handful of boutiques.
Michelle’s journey took her to New York City and Santa Fe, NM, where she pursued theater and film. She now resides in Los Angeles, returning to her first love of creating art jewelry with her brand MissyShelle.
Michelle innovates new techniques and materials to build her three-dimensional, often labor-intensive, pieces with a textile-like quality. The work is vibrant in color, textures, and movement. She constructs with elements of 24K gold,14K gold, palladium, pearls, and gems. Her work is cherished and collected by those seeking unique, one-of-a-kind handmade art jewelry. She welcomes bespoke work upon request.
